Earthquake Survey Incorrect Information Disaster Iskenderun
Earthquakes are instantaneous seismic waves that emerge suddenly, and their timing cannot be definitively known beforehand; therefore, correct behavior during an earthquake is vital. During the February 6, 2023 earthquakes and previous major ones (1999 Gölcük, 2011 Van, etc.), it was observed that commonly believed wrong behaviors led to fatalities. In contrast, those who created a 'Triangle of Life' by practicing 'Drop, Cover, and Hold On' survived. Research and surveys have shown that many people possess incorrect information, the cause of which is attributed to misleading publications from the past. In this study, a survey was conducted to ascertain and evaluate the knowledge level of residents in İskenderun, Hatay, and to raise awareness about the misconceptions they hold.
